Alan Mondus from Lakeville, MN has quickly
established himself as one of the new and upcoming "Young Guns" While only
17 years old, Alan already has ten years of competitive racing experience. Alan
started his successful career by winning the first race he ever entered - at the famed
Elko Speedway Quarter Midget track. From that first race there was no stopping him
as he went on to win over 78 features, a National Championship, 8 State Championships, 7
Track Championships, along with track records from coast to coast.
In 2002 at just 14 years old Alan made the jump to IMCA style modifies, competing in the
"360" class against veteran racers sometimes three times his elder. Young
Mondus made the transition quickly, gaining the respect of the seasoned drivers and
regularly finishing in the top five with several podium finishes.
2004 marked the start of yet another challenge for Alan as he set his goals and sights on
the "Big Boys" of the modified world. Alan quickly made the transition to
the awesome power of a "Open Mod" and by mid-season joined the veterans on the
USMTS Series. Alan quickly made his presence known by making the big show at most of
the series events that he attended. Mondus capped of the season with a strong
showing at the "USMTS Fall Jamboree", (the biggest race of the series) by
winning his heat and holding off 3 time national champion Kelly Shyrock to earn a spot in
the $12,000 to win race.
