Mondus clinches final spot for ‘The Hunt’

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- The stars and cars of the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series made their long-awaited debut at the West Liberty (Iowa) Raceway on Tuesday, Aug. 15, for a $2,000-to-win battle royale at the historic Muscatine County Fairgrounds.

Alan Mondus of Lakeville, Minn.,  With his top-10 finish in Tuesday night's event, Mondus clinched a top-10 finish in the Central Region points standings and earned a spot in ‘The Hunt’ for the O’Reilly USMTS National Championship. Only fifteen drivers will be qualified for ‘The Hunt’ and the The points will be reset much like the NEXTEL cup chase.

Mondus Stated after the race "We're really excited to be a part of the first USMTS HUNT,  and to be one of only 15 makes just that more exciting."

Car Chief Donny Chatleain  Stated the team in hopefully starting to peak at the right time of the year, everyone been working hard on the equipment, we will have a new chassis to finish the season and our motor program is up to date,  Any our biggest asset is that our young driver Alan seems to be very comfortable in the car and I think he has more confidence running with this series than he ever has.
